Sharia enforced: court throws out male journalists

Andrew Bolt

And the journalists accepted this court-enforced segregation?

A MUSLIM woman who sparked a national debate when she asked to give evidence in court wearing a niqab has uncovered her face to testify in a fraud trial.

Tasneem, whose last name has been suppressed by the Perth District Court, gave evidence for just 15 minutes today in the trial of Anwar Sayed…

Tasneem, 36, has worn a niqab since the age of 17 and wanted to wear it while giving evidence in the trial. But Judge Shauna Deane in August ruled she must remove the face-covering garment so that the jury could see her facial expressions…

Judge Deane last week ruled that to make it easier for Tasneem to give evidence comfortably, men would be removed from the court.

The only men allowed in the courtroom while she gave her evidence today were male jurors, the judge’s usher, Mr Sayed and the lawyers. While female journalists were allowed to stay in the court to report on Tasneem’s evidence, male journalists were ejected.

I’m shocked none of the male journalists or their employers protested against this segregation.

UPDATE

Apologies – the fault is the court’s:

A lawyer representing Network Ten and the Seven and Nine networks made an application on Friday to alter the order so that male journalists could remain in court, but the application was rejected.

2nd Update from Ezra Levant:

Canada takes the sharia one step further

It is illegal for a woman wearing a face-obscuring veil to board a plane in Canada. But a unanimous ruling last week by the Ontario Court of Appeal says it’s just fine for that same woman to give testimony in court with her face covered.

"Dangerous Nutters"

RIGHT-WING “nutters” in the US are as dangerous as Islamic terrorists, former Prime Minister Bob Hawke said yesterday.

Name your price:  whore for hire

Sure thing, Hawkeye.  GWB did 9/11, Palin was behind the Times Square bomber and  Gingrich organized the underwear bomber.  And don’t mention Glenn Beck and Bill O’Reilly and Fox TV! Extreme right wing nutters, all of them!

Adelaide Now/Thanks to Mullah

Mr Hawke was in Adelaide yesterday welcoming the new head of the University of South Australia’s International Centre for Muslim and Non-Muslim Understanding, Dr Salman Sayyid. (would be nice to see his rap sheet. He used to be in Leeds before. What brought him to Australia?)

Mr Hawke said religion was not a problem but fanatics of all religious persuasions were, and said he hoped the centre, which he has helped found, would be a world-leading institution for creating understanding and banishing ignorance.

“One of the greatest dangers to peace and stability in the world is this question of misrepresentation, misunderstanding, between the Muslim and non-Muslim world,” he said. (I’m sure Hawke studied Koran, sira & hadith to make such a judgement. Australia’s union thugs and Labor hacks are really switched on, no doubt.   Alright: how about we follow the money instead…?)

“The difficulties of Muslim fanaticism are well established … but never let us forget the equally dangerous fanaticism of extreme right-wing nutters in the US who inspired and sustained the President’s unjust war in Iraq which killed and displaced hundred of thousands of people. Those fanatics are also dangerous. Our problem in the world are fanatics, people who misrepresent the great truths that underpin these great monotheistic religions.”

So much shit out of one mouth is infectious. The virus spreads……..

Who Represents our Youth?

Samah Hadid, Australia’s representative to the United Nations Youth Association for 2010

Al Age’s Good Weekend September 18th featured a youth issue, which included an article about our 2010 Australian Youth Representative to the UN. In case you’re imagining your typical friendly outgoing Aussie, let me reassure you that in our glorious multicultural society, a Muslim woman complete with hijab is our chosen representative. Given that Muslims comprise only 2% of our population, and Muslim females presumably roughly half that amount, you could be forgiven for asking why choose someone who speaks for only 1% of our youth.

Let’s hear more about Samah Hadid: a 22 year old human rights advocate from Bankstown, Sydney’s West, she is completing her Masters in Human Rights Law and Policy at the University of New South Wales, and in her spare time is a performance artist writing a play called The Burqa Monologues.

This busy lass is the Youth Representative on the Australian National Commission for UNESCO and a member of Amnesty International’s Diversity Steering Committee.

Samah co-wrote an article about the burqa in which she claimed Muslim women’s rights were being sacrificed to score cheap political points:

It seems a prerequisite for selection is promoting global citizenship, just like the UN does. Personally, I would hope our youngsters would support democracy rather than a One World Government. (Australian Islamist Monitor)

"Scared of White People"

Messenger/thanks to Mullah (who’s e-mail we took liberty to publish):

Not really on topic, but to illustrate the failure of multiculturalism, refugee policy, special treatment for refugees & the secret herbs, spices & jizyah expended in pursuit of failure …

You could not make this up – Sudanese refugees whose children get special schooling and bus transport … but are complaining that the freebies might be cut back because the children don’t know how to travel on public buses, and one of them is “scared of white people”.

If anyone circulated this in an email, they would be denounced as racists and exposed on “Media Watch”.

Islamic Terror Trial Downunder

The (Somali) sheik gave the men a lesson on the values of jihad, urging them to fight their closest infidels until they say “there is no God but Allah”.

Nothing to do with Islam, as usual.  Except Qur’an:9:123, Fight the unbelievers around you, and let them find harshness in you.”

Terror accused joked about Jakarta bombings By Anna Walker/ABC News

The Tundra Tabloids and sheik yer’mami  extend their condolences to the people of Australia on the eighth anniversary of the murderous attack on the island of Bali, in which 88 Australians were brutally murdered by Islamic jihadis.

Wiki: The 2002 Bali bombings occurred on 12 October 2002 in the tourist district of Kuta on the Indonesian island of Bali. The attack was the deadliest act of terrorism in the history of Indonesia, killing 202 people, (including 88 Australians).

Italy: Illegal welfare seekers ‘revolt’ at Sardinian detention centre

(eyeontheworld)

The best one-liner I have come across in a long time: “The land belongs to those who can defend it”- prick up your ears, Australia!

The land belongs to those who can defend it. Unless Europe grows a pair and implements measures discouraging illegals from entering and severely punishing those who did so, it will cease to exist as Europe.

Cagliari, 11 Oct. (AKI) – The airport in the Sardinian capital, Cagliari, was closed on Monday after illegal immigrants held in a nearby detention centre staged a revolt. They seized control of the centre and dozens managed to escape onto the airport runway.

Australia: Mural Rage in the Making

This mural has appeared in the trendy Sydney suburb of Newtown.

  • Ban the burqa mural ‘not anti-Muslim’ says artist

Note the dumb, disparaging slant by reporter Henry Budd. He also finds it necessary to mention that  “2000 Muslims held a peaceful protest in Lakemba”….. (no s#*t, really?)

Glass sculptor Sergio Redegalli outside his studio in Newtown, today, where he has painted a mural saying no to burqas

A MURAL urging governments to outlaw the burqa has appeared in the trendy inner-city suburb of Newtown.

Local artist Sergio Redegalli painted the “Say no to burqas” sign on the outside of workshop this week to start a debate about the practice of wearing face-covering veils.

Redegalli said burqas and niqabs are symbols of religious extremism and were becoming more prevalent in Australia.

He said the image was not anti-Muslim, anti-Islam or anti-women.

“If you let it [the practice of covering your face] go, someone, somewhere down the line will say we would like Sharia Law,” he said.

Mr Redegalli said the image has already been defaced twice since he began painting it on Monday.

Mr Redegalli also drives a ute with stickers on the front saying “Australians have nothing to hide, say no to burqas”.

About 2000 Muslims held a peaceful protest in Lakemba last Saturday, angered by growing local and international pressure to restrict the wearing of veils in public.

The rally was a response to recent bans in Europe and two failed attempts by Christian Democratic Party MP Fred Nile to have a Bill banning burqas and other face veils in public introduced in the NSW Legislative Council.

    Burqa Debate Downunder

Insight: Banning the Burqa or Freedom Sack for All?

The French Senate has voted to ban the burqa in public places.

Similar laws are being considered in Belgium, Spain and Italy.

President Sarkozy said in Parliament “We cannot accept that in our country some women will be imprisoned behind a fence cut off from all social life, deprived of identity. This is not a principle that the French republic has about women’s dignity.”

In Australia, a recent decision by a judge to have a witness remove her face veil has sparked controversy and recent polls show that the majority of Australians support a ban.

It’s un-Australian … rally condemns push to ban burqa

Mohammedans know best what’s Australian? Back off, kafirs! We are here to stay…. your children will be Muslim….

Islamic values are superior to ”flawed” Western secular values and non-Muslims are in no position to lecture Muslims about the oppression of women, a speaker said yesterday at a Sydney rally against proposals to ban the burqa.

    Jacqueline Maley/SMH (thanks to Mullah)

East meets west …(but never the twain should meet) a woman addresses the rally in Lakemba yesterday. The crowd heard that more and more Western women are embracing Islam.

”Despite the intense negative propaganda against Islam and in particular the lies about its treatment of women, the number of Western women embracing Islam continues to rise at a rapid rate,” said Fautmeh Ardati, a member of the Islamic group Hizb ut-Tahrir. ”By turning their backs on this flawed way of life, it is testament of the superiority of Islamic values over Western values.”

Women did not wear Islamic dress out of freedom of choice, Ms Ardati told the Lakemba rally.

‘Because to use freedom of choice as a justification, then we are also accepting of women who undress out of this same freedom of choice, and we can never do this as Muslim women. We dress like this because it is the command of Allah, not any man.”

The “Muslim community” rally against the proposed ban of the Niqab. (Note the threat: “Attack on Niqaab = Attack on Islam” which simply means ‘kafir back off or we will wage jihad against you’)

Women had two options, she said. ”The Western secular way of life, which robs a woman of her dignity, honour and respect, where she is considered little more than a commodity to be bought and sold, or the option of Islam, where a woman’s dignity, respect and honour are priceless.”

Later she cited high rates of rape and domestic violence and said: ”They are in no position to be lecturing us about oppression and subjugation.” Ms Ardati was one of five speakers at the rally, held at Parry Park, in reaction to a recent unsuccessful attempt by the NSW MP Fred Nile to introduce a bill banning the burqa.

Australia: compo for unwanted welfare seekers

They risk their lives (and the lives of others) to get here, then sue over injuries received after they’ve arrived:

Tim Blair calls it CASH FOR OUCHIES

Dozens of asylum-seekers have received a total of $5.4 million in compensation payouts from taxpayers for injuries they suffered while in detention.

They risk their lives (and the lives of others) to get here, then sue over injuries received after they’ve arrived:

Dozens of asylum-seekers have received a total of $5.4 million in compensation payouts from taxpayers for injuries they suffered while in detention.

Official figures obtained by News Ltd reveal that more than 50 immigration detainees have pocketedan average of $100,000 each over the past two years.

News Ltd says the federal government has refused to detail the reasons for the multi-million-dollar payouts to detainees, saying only they were related to wrongful detention or injuries suffered in detention.

It must be part of the government’s ingenious plan to repel would-be asylum seekers and end the trade in people smuggling. Which is just going brilliantly:

In September, Australia’s detention population included 4527 people who had arrived illegally by boat.

This compares to just four people in November, 2007. Under Labor, the number of those held in detention centres has increased by – wait for it – 113,075 per cent. So much for Rudd’s pre-election boast that he would turn them back.

While the federal government is handing out millions to accident-prone boaties, another Australian government isclosing down a productive farm. Do hit that last link. Greens are involved.    (9NEWS/thanks to Rossco)
