A British al Qaeda trained terrorist was jailed today after being arrested at Heathrow Airport on his way to fight coalition forces in Afghanistan.

Dental assistant Sohail Qureshi, 30, told fellow extremists he planned to “kill many” during a two-to three-week mission, possibly fighting British troops.

He was jailed at the Old Bailey for four and a half years – but could be free in just over a year because of the time he has spent awaiting trial.

Police refused to comment publicly after sentencing but privately senior anti-terrorist detectives were said to be “disappointed” with the verdict.

After his sentencing this afternoon, Scotland Yard released photographs of Qureshi posing with an M16 and a AK47 assault rifle and sources described him as a “significant player” with long-term links to al Qaeda.

They are believed to have been taken at training camps in Pakistan which he is known to have visited a number of times in the last 10 years.

The Pakistani-born Muslim was working as a £1,100-a-month dental assistant in Barking at the time of his arrest at Heathrow in November 2006 when he tried to board a flight to Islamabad with a night-vision scope, metal batons and £9,000 in cash.

He claimed he was going to visit his family for the Islamic festival of Eid. Qureshi, of Forest-Gate, is the first to be convicted under new legislation targeting the preparation of terrorist acts. He was held after a joint operation involving the Yard’s Counter Terrorism Command and the Security Services.

Investigations revealed Qureshi offered to help the war effort in Pakistan and Afghanistan. An intercept communication revealed him telling one of his contacts: “All I know is it’s a two- to three-week operation….. Pray that I kill many.”

The bishop is bravely giving voice to one of the great unspoken fears of our country: That our mainly Christian society is being swept aside as Islam stakes its claim to be our main religion.

And as a Pakistani-born churchman, the Rochester bishop cannot be accused of racism — the usual response whenever someone dares raise the M word.

* Grow some balls, Fergus: Islam is a political ideology, not a race.

Of course, Nazir-Ali and his boss the Archbishop of Canterbury share the blame for the Church of England’s empty pews.

Their squabbles about gay priests and women vicars have driven churchgoers away. All the while, mosques have been springing up from leafy suburbs to rough estates.

The point about being British is that you don’t need to be a practising Christian to appreciate that our culture is underpinned by Christianity.

Christianity has sculpted the fabric of our society, from our carols and cathedrals to our laws and language.

Islam is an uncompromising religion.

In its most extreme form it can be deeply unpleasant in its treatment of women, who can be denied education, forced into marriage and murdered for refusing a male relative’s order.

Militant Islamic leaders — the ones most active in Britain today — do not believe in halfway houses.

That is why they want mosques to broadcast the call to prayer from loudspeakers three times a day.

In Oxford, the mosque has already applied for consent to trumpet its prayer calls over the spires of the ancient university. Thank God Inspector Morse isn’t here to see it.

Almost half of Muslims here say they would prefer to be governed by Islamic Sharia law, which believes women should be stoned to death for adultery and thieves should have their hands hacked off.

Such barbarism has no place in Britain. Yet every day more people arrive here who believe in it.

The surge of Islam has been the flip coin of uncontrolled immigration under Labour. Politicians and church leaders have pussyfooted around the subject for fear of rocking the boat.

You can’t blame the Muslims for taking advantage.

Bishop Nazir-Ali is bang on the money when he talks about ‘no-go’ areas for Christians in fundamentalist Muslim ghettoes in Britain.

But he could have gone further still. 

This country is littered with ‘no-go’ areas, not just physically, but culturally, spiritually, intellectually and academically, too. Our very liberties are being torched in the name of ‘diversity’.

The pernicious doctrine of multiculturalism has turned us into a society where people are frightened to speak their minds and justice has been flipped on its head.

To express an opinion contrary to the ruthlessly enforced, politically motivated conformity of the Fascist Left is to risk a vicious campaign of character assassination which, if you work in the public sector, will almost certainly cost you your job.

The private sector isn’t immune, either.

Only last week, we learned of a banker who was sacked for making a harmless, lame joke about Shi’ites.

The man, identified only as Manfred van H., is scheduled to go on trial Feb. 23 at a court in Luedinghausen in western Germany, Jochen Dyhr, a spokesman for judicial authorities in nearby Muenster, said Thursday.

The businessman last summer printed sheets of toilet paper with the sentence “Koran, the Holy Qur’aen” and sent them to about 15 mosques, television stations and magazines.

In an accompanying letter, authorities say, he asserted that Islam’s holy book is a “cookbook for terrorists” that calls for acts of violence.

He proposed that a “memorial to all victims of Islamic terror” be set up, financed by sales of the toilet paper –– an offer that prosecutors say he also posted on the Internet.

The businessman’s offer led to criminal complaints and telephone death threats against him.

Prosecutors argue that the man’s actions overstepped the legally guaranteed freedom to criticize other religions. They say he has cited his right to freedom of opinion and artistic expression, and said his aim was to provoke rather than actually sell the toilet paper.

Now do a quick calculation. Estimate the average value of a car at €10,000. Since the damage amount is €4 million, at least 400 cars must have been burned.

Nearly one in three people in the Arab world is illiterate, including nearly half of all women in the region, the Tunis-based Arab League Educational Cultural and Scientific Organisation said Monday.
Three-quarters of the 100 million people unable to read or write in the 21 Arab countries are aged between 15 and 45 years old, the Arab League group, known by its acronym ALECSO, said in a statement.

Equally alarming, some 46.5 percent of women in the region are illiterate, the organisation reported, urging governments to put the fight against illiteracy at the top of their agendas.

While describing access to primary school education as “indispensable,” it also urged Arab countries to focus on adult education to avoid “serious incidents in the evolution of (Arab) societies”.

ALECSO has previously sounded the alarm on illiteracy in the region, noting it had failed to meet a 1990 United Nations goal to halve adult illiteracy over the subsequent decade.

In July, Arab states adopted an action plan spearheaded by the group to promote education, notably through collaboration with key international organisations.

While illiteracy affects the entire Arab world, the more highly populated countries — such as Egypt, Sudan, Algeria and Morocco — are particularly vulnerable.

RIYADH, Saudi Arabia: A senior Saudi official called on French President Nicolas Sarkozy on Monday to respect Saudi Arabia’s conservative Islamic culture by visiting the country later this month without his former supermodel girlfriend.

Sarkozy, who divorced his wife Cecilia in October, has flaunted his relationship with Carla Bruni on recent holidays in Egypt and Jordan, drawing criticism that he is being too loose with the presidential image.

A Million Muslim Petition to Intimidate PalTalk anti-Islam chat room

Our colleague Joseph Shahda has uncovered in his monitoring of the terrorist websites a real shocker. On the Ekhlaas terrorist website there is a petition drive to give an anti-Muslim and anti-Islam chat room over at PalTalk the heave ho. Not just any petition drive, but one that calls for a million Jihadis to deluge PalTalk.com in Manhattan to get them to drop the suspect chat room. The Ekhlaas website alleges that PalTalk told them to get one million signatures and they would close the offending forum down. We consider this outrageous submission to cultural Jihad. It might be useful to identify what chat room it is and send PalTalk a counter ACT petition suggesting that they keep up the anti-Muslim and Islam forum under US Constitutional free speech rules. What this amounts to is intimidation by electronic Jihadis flexing their muscle via their mouse pads. It also implies that they have economic power vis a vis the revenues that PalTalk collects from hosting such forums and participant fees. Write us and tell us what you think should be done to expose this, other than, of course, shutting down the Ekhlaas terrorist website hosted by HiVelocity in Tampa.

On January 6 2008 the Ekhlaas terrorist forum, the largest terrorist forum on the internet, posted a thread asking the members of the forum to sign a petition to be sent to Paltalk.com asking them to shut down a chat room that they accuse of being anti-Muslim. The big irony is that the petitioners and PalTalk seem not to care about several Islamic terrorist chat rooms on PalTalk that spread terrorist propaganda, violent terrorist materials, recruit people for Jihad, teach them how to conduct terrorist acts, teach them to hate anyone who disagree with their 7th century sharia, and conduct live interviews with Al Qaeda terrorists the latest one occurred only few days ago. The most dangerous terrorist chat room on Paltalk is called “Al Ansarr Ansar Al Mougahedeen”

According to Ekhlaas terrorist forum, the Muslim activists were able to gather over one million signatures for the petition to close the PalTalk chat room that they claim to be anti-Muslim. According to the terrorist forum PalTalk told the petitioners to gather one million signature and they will shut the room that they are asking to be shut.

This is bad news. Time for you to get involved!

There is a good reason why America’s founders strictly limited the government’s power to regulate speech. Modern Britain is an object lesson in the Orwellian consequences of failing to do so, and the inevitable abuse of power that results.

Islam has been hijacked, and it is time to take it back.”

But senior figures from the Church of England have backed the Bishop of Rochester’s remarks about faith and said Christians in predominantly Muslim areas could feel isolated and nervous about how to express their belief.

“Religious groups” have demanded the resignation of the Bishop of Rochester after he claimed that Islamic radicals had turned parts of Britain into “no-go” areas for non-Muslims.

The Bishop of Burnley, the Rt Rev John Goddard, said his colleague had raised serious questions about the role of faith, race and culture in British society.

The Bishop of Blackburn, the Rt Rev Nicholas Reade, said it was becoming difficult for Christians to share their faith in areas where there was a high proportion of other faiths.

William Hague, the shadow foreign secretary, said: “I don’t think that view is factually correct. I’m not sure where these no-go areas are, I don’t recognise that description.”

But Bishop Goddard said that Christians, who are outnumbered in many parts of Blackburn, were frightened that their ideas could be misinterpreted by other faiths and seen as a form of oppression.

“It is not fear that there is going to be retaliation but it is a fear that you get it badly wrong and cause hurt to others of integrity of other faith you did not intend,” he told The Daily Telegraph.

Bishop Goddard said Christians in northern towns such as Blackburn and Burnley, where 95 per cent of the Asian population is Muslim, could find life difficult.
