“Kevin Rudd shuts refugee door”

No. He doesn’t. He just delays processing for 3 months. Cozmik Debris. In reality KRudd was advised by strategists weeks ago that he had to act. Border control, they told him, posed an election risk in key marginal seats.

KEVIN Rudd has frozen asylum applications from Afghans and Sri Lankans after receiving advice that people-smugglers were preparing to launch a new wave of vessels for northern Australia.

“Sources” confirmed yesterday that the decision, announced yesterday, came partly in response to new intelligence that people-smugglers were forming “new ventures” overseas expected to boost the boat traffic.

While the government presented the move as a well-considered response to improving security circumstances in Afghanistan and Sri Lanka, the opposition said it was proof the government’s previous approach had encouraged people-smugglers.

Meanwhile, at the Lodge: the gift that keeps on giving…..

Sri Lanka’s acting high commissioner to Australia, Sashikala Premawardhane, said conditions in Sri Lanka were normal. “There is absolutely no reason for any to seek asylum in Australia or anywhere else.”

We can safely assume that had the operator of the go-cart business had refused service to her, he would be sued for religious discrimination, lost, and probably lost his livelihood as we saw with the British Hoteliers. We also can safely guess that had he told her to remove her Muslim head-gear, the same thing would have happened as we saw with the Muslims who worked for UPS in Toronto and won a generous settlement it would appear from the smug looks on their faces. Now we just have to wait and see if they will be sued for allowing the Muslim to ride the go-cart and strangle herself with her scarf.”

Yep, Vlad hits the nail on the head with this one, damned if you do and damned if you don’t. It’s just the way the Muslims wants to keept the infidel, off guard as much as possible, and always on the defensive. The more important point here is, the teenage girl was more afraid of her father and/or mother thrashing her for removing the bag than fearing for her own life. KGS

A female suicide bomber has attempted to shoot the Nazran police chief, but missed and injured another police officer and then blew herself up in the Russian North Caucasus republic of Ingushetia, a local police spokesman said on Friday.

“A woman approached a group of police officers and fired a gun at the Nazran police chief, but instead shot another one, injuring him,” the spokesman said.

He added that police officers opened return fire on the attacker and hit her.She then fell and an explosive device was detonated.

With its unprecedented decision to sanitize the basic document defining U.S. national security strategy – cleanse from it terms that connect Islam to terror, jihad, extremism and the like – President Hussein Obama is once again propagating Orwellian babble.

And there’s little doubt but that the MSM are primed to parrot far and wide, as opposed to critically assess, the president’s now squeaky clean, official vocabulary of defense. Even after the carnage of 9/11, for example, MSNBC’s Chris Matthews could only bring himself vaguely to identify the attacks as “criminal acts of terror” – selecting out the unpalatable fact that all the terrorists were Islamic radicals.

The administration’s latest rhetorical sleight of hand is just the latest evidence of its zeal for obfuscating the true nature of the terrorist threat. Recall the bizarre memo, originating from Obama’s Office of Management and Budget that instructed Defense Department staffers to use the term “Overseas Contingency Operation” in place of “Long War” or “Global War on Terror.”

Indonesia is promising a full investigation into the public humiliation, mob beating and possible caning under Islamic law of two people suspected of adultery.

The offences allegedly took place on Wednesday after a 36-year-old teacher and a 28-year-old housewife were accused of having extramarital sex in Aceh province, where religious police enforce sharia or Islamic regulations.

They were dragged from the woman’s home by an angry mob, paraded naked through their village, tied to a post and beaten almost to death, and now face nine lashes each in public, police said.

Jordanian King Abdullah has warned that Israel’s long-term future would remain in jeopardy unless a permanent solution to the Palestinian problem was achieved. Ahead of his trip to the USA, the Jordanian king said in an interview with The Wall Street Journal: “I think the long-term future of Israel is in jeopardy unless we solve our problems.”The Jordanian leader, who is expected to attend President Barack Obama’s Nuclear Security Summit, cautioned against “wasting too much time” in resolving the conflict in the region. Pointing to the “tremendous tension” in the Middle East, he warned that the “status quo is unacceptable.”

“Over the Israeli-Lebanese border; if you spoke [to some Lebanese] today they feel there is going to be a war any second,” he said. “[It] looks like there is an attempt by certain groups to promote a third intifada, which would be disastrous. Jerusalem as you are well aware is a tinderbox that could go off at any time, and then there is the overriding concern about military action between Israel and Iran.”

“So with all these things in the background, the status quo is not acceptable; what will happen is that we will continue to go around in circles until the conflict erupts, and there will be suffering by peoples because there will be a war,” added Abdullah.

So why did Kevin Rudd suddenly get tough on boat people? Was it because his weaker laws had caused too many boats to land? Had lured 53 boat people to their deaths? Had cost taxpayers countless millions? Had poisoned relations with Indonesia? Had helped queue-jumpers to push ahead of real refugees?

None of the above. Laurie Oakes explains, without a word of criticism:

I guess KRudd needs to establish a new rubber stamp bureaucracy to deal with this.  The bleeding hearts over at the ABC are already whining over this “inhumanity”

Another boat, and nearly more deaths, forces the Rudd Government to announce that these poor refugees are probably not fleeing danger, after all:

All new asylum seeker claims from Sri Lanka and Afghanistan are being suspended, as news emerges that 70 people were rescued from a sinking asylum boat off Christmas Island early this morning.

Immigration Minister Chris Evans says the Government has decided to implement the processing suspension due to “changing conditions” in both countries…

This means any new asylum seekers now arriving in Australian waters from those two countries will not have their refugee applications processed until the suspension is lifted.

The suspension comes as the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees reviews the international protection guidelines for both countries.

But, but, but… weren’t they fleeing ”genocide” Wasn’t this flood of boats caused by ”new conflicts” and overseas ”push factors”?

It seems to me from this that Immigration Minister Chris Evans is now admitting the Government lied all along in denying its policies had lured so many thousands here in boats:

The changes we’re announcing today send a strong message to people smugglers that they cannot guarantee a visa outcome for their clients.

So it really was the guaranteed visa outcome that people smugglers were advertising that drew so many boats here? Then why didn’t Rudd just say so a few dozen boats ago?

Liars and incompetents.
