This is the first sign in the Western establishment media that this was a jihad attack; the media in India reported this all day yesterday.

The death toll in Sri Lanka has soared to 290 after a wave of blasts hit churches and luxury hotels across the country on Sunday.

Police said 24 people had been arrested, but it is not yet known who carried out the attacks.

There were eight separate bombing attacks, four of them against churches celebrating Easter Mass. 207 people were reportedly killed, and at least 450 others wounded. The perpetrators are allegedly members of a new Islamic terrorist organization. Seven people have been arrested so far, but some of the explosions were caused by suicide bombers who will never be brought to justice on this side of the veil.

Vlad also has a report on an unrelated attack on a Croatian church in Munich. A bearded culture-enricher entered the Easter service, shouted “Allahu Akhbar”, and detonated several powerful fireworks. The congregation fled in panic, and 24 people were injured in the melee.

Afew days before the collapse of the Islamic State’s caliphate, I visited one of the new “pop-up prisons” that had been hastily converted to hold thousands of surrendering isis fighters in Syria. The numbers wildly exceeded all expectations, including estimates by U.S. intelligence. The most striking sight at the prison entrance was a mound of human hair lying on the raw concrete floor. Clumps of it—some brown, some graying, most of it greasy or matted—had been shaved off the heads and faces of fighters before they were taken to group cells. “Lice,” one of the guards told me.

The prison at Dashisha, in eastern Deir Ezzor province, had been an oil-storage facility. In just four days, the compound of modest brick and stucco buildings had been filled with fifteen hundred fighters from countries on four continents, including France, Libya, Russia, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Morocco, Iraq, and the United States, the warden told me. Average-sized rooms had been fitted with metal doors; each cell had a small barred window that I had to stand on my tiptoes to peer through. Each one was crammed, wall to wall, with dozens of men squatting on the floor. The isis fighters wore new T-shirts, in army green, and whatever trousers they had on when they were captured.

After five years of war with the Islamic State, the biggest problem for the winners is coping with the losers. The aftermath has produced one of the world’s most perplexing postwar challenges: there are tens of thousands of captured isis members whom no nation wants to repatriate, and the local militia holding them has neither the resources nor the personnel to keep them indefinitely. More than five thousand isis fighters surrendered in the final month of fighting alone. Thousands more were captured earlier in the conflict. They’re dispersed among the new pop-up prisons in northeast Syria. A few hundred of the most severely wounded are in a small hospital, with the foreign fighters crowded in its basement for security. The hospital stench was overwhelming, even through a mask. “Sepsis,” a medic told me. Between December and March, another sixty-three thousand family members of isis fighters—wives enveloped in black niqabs that cover their faces, and bedraggled young children—also poured out of Baghouz, the last isis redoubt in Syria. They’re held separately, most in tents, at a dusty, malodorous camp in al-Hawl that already held ten thousand. The prisons, the hospital, and the camp are all bursting.

But even in this hour of crisis neither he nor other authorities worldwide will dare to identify exactly what kind of “religious extremists” were involved, even though Indian media has already identified two of them by name: Zahran Hashim and Abu Mohammad.

Lord Ahmed of Rotherham to face trial on child sex charges

A member of the House of Lords will go on trial in December charged with historical sexual offenses against children.

Lord Ahmed of Rotherham appeared for a brief hearing before a judge at Sheffield Crown Court.

He is charged with a serious sexual assault and indecent assault against a boy under the age of 11.

The 61-year-old is also charged with two counts of attempting to rape a girl who was under the age of 16.

The charges relate to dates between 1971 and 1974.

The peer, of East Bawtry Road, Rotherham, appeared under his name Nazir Ahmed along with two of his brothers.

Mohammed Farouq, 68, of Worrygoose Lane, Rotherham, is charged with four counts of indecent assault against a boy.

One of these counts relates to when the boy was under eight, in the late 1960s.

Mohammed Tariq, 63, of Gerard Road, Rotherham, is charged with two counts of indecent assault against a boy under 11.

The peer, who resigned from the Labour Party in 2013, spoke only to confirm his name, date of birth and nationality.

During a 20-minute hearing, Judge Jeremy Richardson QC fixed the trial date for all three men for 2 December.

He said a further hearing would be held on 14 June and released all three on bail.

Really.

‘A PVC pipe which was six feet in length containing explosives in it was discovered,’ Air Force Spokesman Gihan Seneviratne told the Sri Lankan Sunday Times.

He said the bomb device was discovered by Air Force personnel on a routine patrol and was disposed by the Explosives Ordinance Disposal Unit of the Air Force in a controlled area.

The airport was put ‘on lockdown’ while the security forces examined and detonated the device, according to reports from the scene.

It comes after this morning, six bombs went off in quick succession before another two blasts two hours later in Sri Lanka’s worst violence since the end of its decades-long civil war in 2009.

As details of the horror emerged today, Sri Lankan TV chef Shantha Mayadunne and her London-based daughter Nisanga were among the first victims named.

Meanwhile a manager at the Cinnamon Grand hotel in Colombo said the attacker had set off the horrific explosion in a packed restaurant at 8.30am, after waiting in a queue for a breakfast buffet.

At least 35 foreigners are feared to have been killed in the attacks – including five Britons, two of whom were joint US-UK citizens.  Foreign Secretary Jeremy Hunt condemned the the ‘horrifying attacks’ which he said had killed ‘several British nationals’.

Further fatalities are said to include three Indians, two Turks, one Portuguese citizen and an unknown number of Dutch and Chinese nationals.

Seven suspects have been arrested, as it emerged the country’s police chief had warned of an Islamic extremist plot to target ‘prominent churches’ just 10 days earlier, but no group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack.

Sri Lanka’s defence ministry has now ordered curfew with immediate effect ‘until further notice’ while access to social media messaging services has been shut down.

Really. It’s not like they needed an excuse. Mohammedans are commanded to wage jihad regardless, whether provoked or not.

The Islamic State supporters have indicated that the Colombo bombings were in retaliation for strikes on Mosques.

In 2016 there were reports that 32 elite Sri Lankan Muslims had joined the Islamic State.

 ISIS had warned that it would target the Buddhists in Sri Lanka.

Carrying a plate, the man, who had registered at the hotel the night before as Mohamed Azzam Mohamed, was just about to be served when he set off his devastating strike.

The suicide bomber waited patiently in a queue for the Easter Sunday breakfast buffet at Sri Lanka’s Cinnamon Grand hotel before setting off explosives strapped to his back.

Carrying a plate, the man, who had registered at the hotel the night before as Mohamed Azzam Mohamed, was just about to be served when he set off his devastating strike in the packed restaurant, a manager at the Sri Lankan hotel said.

“There was utter chaos,” said the manager, who spoke to AFP on condition  ..

The Moslem bombers didn’t claim that 207 Christians killed in Sri Lanka was are retribution for Christchurch. @JacindaArdern better  take note.  Her  lovefest with the hijab and Muslim prayers didn’t mean a damn to the Mujahideen. It was never going to. Wake up!

The NTJ is a radical Muslim group in Sri Lanka that was linked last year to the vandalisation of Buddhist statues.”

Did Jayasundara alert the “prominent churches”? If he did, did Ranjith disregard the warning? We may never know the answers to those questions, but in a larger sense it is easy to see, despite escalating Muslim persecution of Christians worldwide, why Ranjith “never expected such a thing to happen,” and so had no guards at the churches for Easter Sunday: all those who have been for years calling attention to this threat have been branded as “racist,” “bigoted” and “Islamophobic,” and dismissed as “fearmongering.” Everyone in the Catholic Church knows that Islam is a religion of peace; dissenters are shunned and ostracized. Would it have been “Islamophobic” to have Sri Lankan churches guarded for Easter?

Two suicide bombers have been identified as Zahran Hashim and Abu Mohammed.

Documents seen by AFP show that Sri Lanka’s police chief Pujuth Jayasundara issued an intelligence alert to top officers 10 days ago, warning that suicide bombers planned to hit “prominent churches”.

“A foreign intelligence agency has reported that the NTJ (National Thowheeth Jama’ath) is planning to carry out suicide attacks targeting prominent churches as well as the Indian high commission in Colombo,” the alert said.

The NTJ is a radical Muslim group in Sri Lanka that was linked last year to the vandalisation of Buddhist statues.

The first blast was reported at St Anthony’s Shrine, a well-known Catholic church in the capital Colombo.

At the Shangri-La hotel, an AFP photographer saw extensive damage on the second floor restaurant, with windows blown out and electrical wires hanging from the ceiling.

Churches attacked in Sri Lanka during Easter Sunday mass. 5-star hotels in Colombo also attacked. In Negombo where there is a high concentration of Catholics, the church was bombed.

Colombo: Sri Lankan police on Sunday reported there had been an eighth explosion following seven reported at hotels and churches earlier in the day that killed at least 207 people.

Three of the near-simultaneous explosions hit Catholic churches where Easter services were underway while three other explosions were reported in five-star hotels, according to police.

There have also been reports of two extra explosions, with one in Dehiwela, near Colombo.

Hospital and police officials said more than 450 have been wounded. Victims from China, Portugal and the Netherlands are among the dozens of foreign nationals confirmed dead in the attacks.
