 Irfan Yusuf unreservedly apologises: 

An opinion article published in The Canberra Times by Irfan Yusuf on August 18, ‘’Justice the remedy required to help Bosnia heal’’, cited the US analyst Daniel Pipes as predicting that Europe’s next Holocaust victims would be Muslim migrants and it alleged that Mr Pipes suggested Muslims thoroughly deserved such slaughter. The Canberra Times and Irfan Yusuf accept that Mr Pipes never predicted nor has he ever endorsed a Holocaust of European Muslims, and they unreservedly apologise to him for the errors.

Local clerics issue fatwa for “Jihad” against U.S. attack

According to the report, the grand Jirga of Ahmadzai, Dotani and Sulemankhel tribes was held in Wana on Wednesday, which was attended by tribal elders, Ulemas and chiefs. 

Former legislator Maulana Noor Muhammad also attended the grand Jirga. Nearly 10, 000 tribal people attended the Jirga. 

The fatwa said, “If U.S. would carry out more attacks inside Pakistan’s territory, then people have obligation to defend their homeland. It is our responsibility to fight alongside Pakistan army against any external aggression.”

I thought I was doing the safe, responsible thing. I wasn’t hitchhiking, or drink-driving, or walking on my own. Everyone has a right to expect that when you catch a cab, the driver will do his job and take you home. But I didn’t get home that night – and what that driver did to me is unforgivable.

The tactic at work here is a familiar one, with the law’s proponents advancing a specific agenda under the cloak of an appeal to various “common values.” We’ve seen this before with respect to concepts like “human rights,” “respect for women,” and “respect for religion.” But in this case, a significant number of people aren’t buying it. “Indonesia, sharia behind anti-pornography law,” by Mattias Hariyadi for AsiaNews, September 17 thanks to JW:

Jakarta (AsiaNews) – There is no let-up in the chorus of protests from Indonesian religious minorities and ethnic groups, against the possible approval of the “law against pornography”, better known as the Undang-undang Pornografi. They claim that the new norm, under consideration in parliament, which has been asked to decide whether to approve it by September 23, brings “national unity” into serious danger, and wipes out “cultural and religious differences” by eliminating “pluralism” and fostering “social discord”. But what is most worrying to the minorities and ethnic groups is the danger that the law on pornography is concealing an attempt by the more fundamentalist branch of Islam to introduce sharia, Islamic law.

Chapter 21 of the draft law also leaves “free rein” for preventing possible immoral acts:“This is an especially dangerous point”, emphasizes Eva Kusuma Sudari of the Indonesian Democratic Struggle Party (PDIP), a nationalist group that has always opposed the law. “This allows people to be manipulated in order to promote anarchy and social conflicts in the country”, while fundamentalist Islamic groups would have free rein to destroy nightclubs or other gathering spots under the pretext of “preserving the purity of the holy month of Ramadan”.

After German Muslim organizations lost confidence in the only professor or Islam in Germany, officials decide to set up a second.

* What’s wrong with the above sentence? Everything. It is not about the Muslims ‘who lost confidence in the professor’- it is about Muslims who insist that Islam is hammered into the heads of of students unquestioningly, that indoctrination replaces free scientific enquiry. So if ‘officials’ (who are these ‘officials?’) are already prepared to set up a second professorship to replace the first, what does that tell you?
