Philippines: MILF attacks continue despite ‘improvement in interfaith dialog’

* What? In spite of all the efforts by the Arroyo government to ‘respect the holy month of Ramadan’, in spite of making major concessions, offering autonomy and addressing multiple Moro-Muslim grievances, no peace with the ‘RoP?’  So now, as ‘interfaith dialogue’ continues, we are to believe that it is only a few ‘rogue elements’ that keep fighting the jihad?

The (Possible) Prosecution of Geert Wilders

Our Flemish correspondent VH has compiled a report on the multiple concerted attempts by various people and organizations in the Netherlands to have Geert Wilders prosecuted for his unacceptable opinions. There are many within the current Dutch government who would love to see this happen, if only a way could be discovered to legally accomplish it.

VH begins with a translation of an article in NU.nl, and then follows it with his own compilations from various Dutch media sources:

Court considers prosecuting Wilders

Geert WildersThe court in Amsterdam will decide this year about a prosecution of Geert Wilders on the basis of discrimination. This is what the Court wrote to lawyer Els Lucas. The former PvdA [Labor] candidate for the City Council of Lelystad filed complaints against Wilders several times. Wilders is also invited to the Court to tell his story, the letter states.

In July a special discrimination department of the Public Prosecutor decided not to prosecute Wilders for a number of expressions done in the media, and in his film Fitna.

Els Lucas and two other parties [one of them René Danen’s Netherlands Admits Color] have filed an appeal against this decision. The appeal will be dealt with this year.

An Arab resident of east Jerusalem rammed his vehicle into a group of soldiers at a central Jerusalem thoroughfare late Monday night, wounding fifteen people, before being shot dead by an off-duty IDF officer, police and rescue officials said.

It was the third such attack in the city in as many months.

An IDF soldier has lost sight in one of his eyes after a Palestinian woman attacked him with acid at the Hawara checkpoint on Monday afternoon. The checkpoint is located south of the West Bank city of Nablus.

* Israel fears growing trend after new Jerusalem incident

 Troops managed to apprehend the woman, who is believed to have carried out a similar attack several weeks ago at the same crossing. She was arrested and taken for questioning. The soldier was evacuated to the Rabin Medical Center in Petah Tikva for treatment.

MANILA, GMA News TV--Philippines — Religious leaders in Lanao are calling for a jihad (holy war) in fighting “oppressors” against Islam, the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) claimed Saturday.

In a statement on its website (www.luwaran.com), the MILF said the calls were made in sermons of religious leaders during Friday congregational prayers.

“Sermons of the religious leaders of Lanao provinces in Friday’s congregational prayers called on the Bangsamoro to unite and wage jihad fi sabilillah in fighting the oppressors, religious persecutors and enemies of Islam,” it said.
