Paki attack: boy suicide bomber, 12, kills 41 people in Taliban strike

A Taliban suicide bomber aged as young as 12 blew himself up in a busy market place in north-west Pakistan, killing at least 41 people and injuring dozens more.

It was the fourth major terrorist attack in Pakistan within a week.

The attacks, which have claimed more than 100 lives, represent a major escalation by the Taliban and come before the army launches a major offensive against militant targets in South Waziristan, near the Afghan border. More from the Telegraph, UK

Far-right Dutch MP Geert Wilders has won an appeal against a Home Office decision barring his entry to the UK.

“Far-right”: Media-speak for “frightens children, barks at other people’s dogs, and makes Cratchit work on Christmas.”

Other good news:

The Asylum and Immigration Tribunal ruling overturns a government decision that led to Mr Wilder being turned back at Heathrow in February.

KRudd sez he has “no credibility”

What puzzles me is how this empty suit denies his responsibility  for the  Mohammedan invasion and launches ad hominem attacks on Philip  Ruddock instead. Is he totally detached from reality or is this the beginning of his undoing? And Turnbull, supposedly leader of the opposition, is nowhere to be seen or heard.

The boats are back

The navy has intercepted another boatload of suspected asylum seekers off Australia’s north-west coastline. Home Affairs Minister Brendan O’Connor said the boat was carrying about 56 passengers including two young children and two crew.

It was intercepted on Monday afternoon north-west of Ashmore Reef.

That’s another 360 people in seven boats in just three weeks. The full list of arrivals here. Already this is the fourth biggest yearly intake of boat people since 1976.

We’ve now had 1648 illegal boat people land this year – or 10 times the number last year – at an estimated cost of $65 million. At least 25 have died trying to get here.  As I said just yesterday, every new boat now becomes an issue for this Government, which controversially softened the laws against boat people last year.

Correction: at long last, Malcolm Turnbull, leader of the opposition shows a sign of life:

What we have to do now is recognise that (Rudd’s) policies have failed and have a thorough independent inquiry to assess what can be done to protect our borders once again…

As Coalition figures lined up yesterday to take advantage of the surge in boatpeople, West Australian Premier Colin Barnett slammed the decision to grant asylum to 42 Afghan men whose boat blew up following an act of sabotage.

Where does Jerusalem fit in Islam and Muslim history? It is not the place to which they pray, is not once mentioned by name in prayers, and it is connected to no mundane events in Muhammad’s life. The city never served as capital of a sovereign Muslim state, and it never became a cultural or scholarly center. Little of political import by Muslims was initiated there.

One comparison makes this point most clearly: Jerusalem appears in the Jewish Bible 669 times and Zion (which usually means Jerusalem, sometimes the Land of Israel) 154 times, or 823 times in all. The Christian Bible mentions Jerusalem 154 times and Zion 7 times. In contrast, the columnist Moshe Kohn notes, Jerusalem and Zion appear as frequently in the Qur’an “as they do in the Hindu Bhagavad-Gita, the Taoist Tao-Te Ching, the Buddhist Dhamapada and the Zoroastrian Zend Avesta”—which is to say, not once.2

Milan, 12 October (AKI) – An Italian soldier was injured on Monday after a Libyan man exploded a bomb hidden inside a toolbox at the entrance of the ‘Santa Barbara’ military barracks in the northern Italian city of Milan.

Jack Straw helped to secure a £1.5m donation from the Emir of Qatar to a mosque in his Blackburn constituency.

The justice secretary’s help in fixing the gift was used by the Labour party to woo the Muslim vote, it was claimed this weekend.

MPs, security experts and moderate Islamic leaders said Straw’s role raised serious concerns about the way some foreign states were trying to sway the religious views of British Muslims.
