UPDATE 12.35pm: A PLAN to force families to cover up to avoid offending Muslims at a public event has triggered furious debate.

Muslim women have been banned from wearing the body-concealing swimming costume known as a burqini in the northern Italian town of Varallo Sesia (Telegraph UK)

The anti-immigration mayor (?) of the northern Piedmont town said: “The sight of a ‘masked woman’ could disturb small children, not to mention problems of hygiene.  “We don’t have to be tolerant all the time,” Gianluca Buonanno said.

An overwhelming 94 per cent of heraldsun.com.au readers disagree with the legal ruling approving the contentious ban during next year’s Ramadan.

So far the Premier John Brumby has refused to weigh into the debate about the event, saying he will wait to see the VCAT ruling before making any comment.

VCAT has approved a ban on uncovered shoulders and thighs for a community event to be held at the Dandenong Oasis, a municipal pool.

“Participants aged 10 and over must ensure their bodies are covered from waist to knee and the entire torso extending to the upper arms,” a request by Dandenong City Council and the YMCA states in an exemption application to the Equal Opportunities Act.

“Participants must not wear transparent clothing.”

This issue has also sparked a huge community debate, with well over 700 people commenting on heraldsun.com.au this morning.

Is it any wonder that under the Muslim POTUS Obama Mohammedanism is going through the roof? Yesterday we reported about an Obama affiliated councilwoman who invited local imams to perform Islamic invocations at the beginning of the Council meetings, something that was thrown out after massive protests. Proselytizing in schools is far more insidious. Along with distorted, highly tendentious Islam friendly, Christianity denigrating schoolbooks all across the USA a recipe for disaster.

Today, Americans for Peace and Tolerance released a video showing 6th graders from Wellesley, MA as they rise from prostrating themselves alongside Muslim men in a prayer to Allah while on a public school field trip to the largest mosque in the Northeast.  Teachers did not intervene. Parents have not been told.

The video was taken inside the Islamic Society of Boston Cultural Center – Boston’s controversial Saudi-funded mega-mosque – during a Wellesley Middle School social studies trip to the mosque, ostensibly taken to learn about the history of Islam first-hand. Yet the video reveals that the students are being blatantly mis-educated about Islam. A mosque spokesperson is seen teaching the children that in Mohammed’s 7th century Arabia women were allowed to vote, while in America women only gained that right a hundred years ago. This seems to be an increasingly recurring theme in American schools – the denigration of western civilization and the glorification of Islamic history and values. In fact, just recently, the American Textbook Council revealed that the New York State high school regents exam whitewashes the atrocities that occurred during the imperialistic Islamic conquest of Christian Byzantium, Persia, the African continent, and the Indian subcontinent, even as it demonizes European colonialism in South America.

Back in April, Seattle cartoonist Molly Norris proposed and then withdrew the idea of an “Everybody Draw Mohammed Day”. As Norris said at the time: “I said that I wanted to counter fear and then I got afraid.” She’s since become a lot more afraid, as the Seattle Weekly reports:

You may have noticed that Molly Norris’ comic is not in the paper this week. That’s because there is no more Molly.

I attended an event today on Capitol Hill announcing the release of an important new report called Shariah: The Threat to America that advises the Obama administration to stop ignoring the link between Islam and terrorism.

The report (read it here) is sponsored by the Center for Security Policy, a leading national security think tank in Washington, D.C. It’s a comprehensive, 177-page expose on how radical Islamists are attempting to establish sharia law in the United States–and it offers a fresh strategy on how to fight back against them.

The report–which has received the endorsement of key Republican House members Michelle Bachmann, Peter Hoekstra and Trent Franks–was put together by a 19-member all-star team of national security experts, including former high-ranking officials from the CIA and U.S. military, a former Justice Department prosecutor and a former FBI special agent. (Australia) Dandenong City Council has really set the cat amongst the pigeons by unveiling an edict that during Ramadan next year, people who wish to swim will have to cover up so as not to offend any Muslims who may just happen to be swimming.

Yup, so concerned are the people behind this fantastic way in which to bring different communities together, they forgot to ask any Muslims in the first place, and the outrage caused by this so called brilliant idea has divided Muslims and non-Muslims even further.

The thing is, Muslims tend not to swim during Ramadan, as doing so may lead to Allah’s little floaters to swallowing some water and thus breaking their fast. Which is how one UK council sees swimming for Muslims during Ramadan. Problem for Stoke council was they insisted that swimming be banned for everybody (Muslims and non-Muslims alike) during Ramadan.

See? Yet again do-gooders causing yet more problems. (Thanks to eye on the world)

The Council announced Tuesday that it has invited local imams to perform Islamic invocations at the beginning of the Council meetings in September.

Council President rJo Winch called it an important move for the Council. Winch is, you guessed it, an ardent Obama supporter. Obviously, he pays her mortgage and puts gas in her car…..

Islamic Hamas movement, which rules the Gaza Strip, slammed on Wednesday the French parliament for passing a law that bars Muslim women in the country from wearing Islamic veils.

Ahmed Bahar, deputy speaker of the Hamas-dominated parliament and a senior Hamas leader in Gaza, said in a written press statement emailed to reporters that the decision “is unfair, racist and hurts Muslims’ feelings.”

Muslims have a long long history of fairness towards black slaves. They  would never hurt the feelings of unbelievers.

He also called on the European Union’s court for human rights ” to condemn the decision of France and its parliament “for passing such a racist law which violates the law of the European agreement for human rights.”

A leading cleric at Egypt’s prestigious Al-Azhar Mosque on Wednesday applauded France’s ban on the face veil worn by some devout Muslim women, saying the niqab harmed Islam’s image.

Abdel Muti al-Bayyumi, a member of an influential council of clerics at al-Azhar, said the niqab, a full-face veil that leaves an opening for the eyes, “has no basis in Islamic law and there is nothing in the Koran or Sunna that supports it.”

“I personally support (the ban) and many of my brothers in the Islamic Research Academy support it. My position against the niqab is actually older than France’s,” said Bayyumi, who has authored a book against the practice.

“I want to send a message to Muslims in France and Europe. The niqab has no basis in Islam. I used to feel dismayed when I saw some of the sisters (in France) wearing the niqab. This does not give a good impression of Islam…. (Source)
