Lawyers sometimes wonder why they’re held in low public esteem. Perhaps they should consider the arguments offered by Sydney lawyer Clive Steirn in defending a multiple rapist: 

Suffering bastard:

Taxi driver Hassan Nagi should not receive a harsh sentence for raping three women as he suffered a condition called “Don Juanism” which made him addicted to sex, his barrister said yesterday.

Clive Steirn SC also urged a District Court judge to spare the sex predator a “crushing” sentence because he never bashed his victims while he was raping them.

“There was no gratuitous violence. None of the women was physically harmed. It’s an important consideration,” he said. 

The judge’s response: “He doesn’t get rewarded for not belting them.” Good, although it shouldn’t need saying. Further from Steirn, who seems to have emerged from the 17th century: 

Mr Steirn said Nagi – who has pleaded guilty to raping female passengers in 2003, 2006 and 2007 – was merely being “opportunistic” and should be punished “at the lower end of the spectrum”.

“He’s taken advantage of their extreme states of intoxication to carry out the offences,” he said.

“In terms of driving a cab over many years, he had ample opportunity to commit other types of offences”. 

This is offered in mitigation. In 2009. Seriously. Do continue, Mr Steirn: 

“It cannot be said he is a serial offender. These are three separate episodes over five years.” 

Three rapes in five years? That’s a definition of a serial offender. Nagi should be jailed for life. About Clive Steirn, I really don’t know what to say.

“I told her, and (former Israeli Foreign Minister Tzipi) Livni, that those residents of Ma’aleh Adumim or Ariel who would rather stay in their homes could live under Palestinian rule and law, just like the Israeli Arabs who live among you. They could hold Palestinian and Israeli nationalities. If they want it — welcome,” Qorei said when asked if Israel would agree to evacuate Ma’aleh Adumim’s 35,000 occupiers.

Any agreement must guarantee our territorial contiguity; leave historical sites in our hands, especially Jerusalem, as well as natural resources, especially water.”

Sonia Sotomayor, Barack Obama’s affirmative action pick for the Supreme Court, reaches a conclusion that proves her conclusion is false:

I would hope that a wise Latina woman with the richness of her experiences would more often than not reach a better conclusion than a white male who hasn’t lived that life.

Not only is this racist and foolish, it fundamentally misunderstands the role of a judge, which is to uphold the law, not pass on the lessons of her personal experiences. Be afraid that Obama finds this fine.

(AKI) – A powerful suicide car bomb attack destroyed a police headquarters building in the eastern Pakistani city of Lahore on Tuesday, killing at least 23 people and injuring 200 others. Pakistani media reports say two suspects were arrested at the site. 

Rescuers are searching the rubble of a police building in the Pakistani city of Lahore after a bomb attack killed at least 23 people and injured 200.

Gunmen reportedly opened fire on guards before detonating a car bomb which flattened the emergency response building at police HQ.

Nearby offices of the ISI intelligence service were also damaged.

The interior ministry chief linked the attack to Taliban insurgents whom troops are battling in the Swat valley.

Afghanistan destroys books deemed insulting to Sunnis

“Books like these are more dangerous than Taliban bullets,” Gov. Ghulam Dastagir Azad told The Associated Press.

In the recent case, it was a load of pro-Shi’ite books from Iran that was destined for the bottom of the Helmand River. Ironically, the Afghan government has thus ignited sectarian strife by supposedly aiming to prevent it. And the question remains: are they concerned about Shi’ite Islam as a vehicle for Iranian influence, or simply because it is not Sunni Islam? Beyond that, there are several points of interest:

First, transparency is a prized attribute of a functional government, at least in the Western sense; it does not co-exist well with official corruption. But when a society and a government believes it is permissible to lie or equivocate in order to smooth things over or guard against non-believers (cf. Qur’an 3:28), there exists a disastrous precedent for how the government may do business when officials think no one is looking.

Second, the principle is expandable: What else will the government suppress in order not to “insult” this or that brand of Islam? Quite a bit, if the case of Syed Parwez Kambakhsh is any indication. And that begs the question of what kind of government Western forces are spending untold amounts of blood and treasure to prop up.

Above all, however, the story belies the harmony that would supposedly break out under a pure Islamic state: To say nothing of unbelievers, there could be no harmony as long as everyone was not in agreement about the “purity” of said state, and its fidelity to and enforcement of Sharia law. Even without the sense of entitlement of the “true believers” to govern and the call for open-ended warfare against unbelievers, stories like this make quite a case for the separation of religion and state.

* Resisting the Muselmanic invasion can hardly be described as xenophobic. The Greeks, under attack for millenium, have every right to defend themselves, in fact it is a duty for every upright citizen to resist the Islamic invasion. Greece has always welcomed visitors and to blame their resistance to Islam as’xenophobic’  is plain rubbish. Especially in light of the fact that the Muslim Turks have overrun and occupied northern Cyprus and murdered, raped and abducted hundreds of thousands of  Christians  a mere 30 years ago,  and drove them out of their homes. For a few years now Greece has been systematically  invaded by the Islamo-fascists, and rabid lefties, Anarcho’s and their support groups have been assisting the Muzz to get a foothold. It is now time to reverse the situation and to repatriate the unwelcome  parasites. That takes political will and determination:

In reality, it is the Muslims who are religiously obliged to “slay the disbelievers wherever they can be found”- what’s going on here…?

“Palestinian leaders across the board call for the so-called right of return inside Israel for their fake refugees. If this demand is ever put into action, if millions of foreign Arabs flood Israel, it will destroy the Jewish character of the state by population genocide, by having Arabs outnumber Jews by a wide margin,” Klein explains.  
 
“That’s the plan,” he adds.
 
In a bombshell chapter of the book, Klein shows how after Israel’s founding the U.N. drastically changed the very definition of “refugee” just for the Palestinian conflict so that a large number of non-qualifying Arabs could register as “Palestinian refugees” and how these so-called refugees are being attended to in methods different from refugees in all other regions of the world, throughout the entire history and charter of the U.N.

The few kept alive for their intelligence value should have been interrogated secretly, then executed.

Terrorists don’t have legal rights or human rights. By committing or abetting acts of terror against the innocent, they place themselves outside of humanity’s borders. They must be hunted as man-killing animals.

And, as a side benefit, dead terrorists don’t pose legal quandaries.

Last week, the Independent led with the story of how MI5 agents are harassing young British Muslims and bullying them into becoming informants. Although I’m sure these cold-war tactics have shocked many, it came as no shock to me.

The tragic events of 7/7 marked a key turning point for the Muslim youth in the UK. Before 7/7, the word terrorist or extremist conjured up images of a middle-aged, big-bearded radical preacher given asylum or residence in the UK, preying on the ignorance of young people – exploiting legitimate grievances (?) to recruit them to some seemingly noble cause. One that involves damning and bringing down western democracy – the very same democracy that facilitates his right to attack it and the very same country whose benefit system he (typically) feeds off. However, the perpetrators of 7/7 did not fit this stereotype. They were young, British-born Muslims. They were people like us. (Absolutely not. All Muslims, like all dogs, share certain characteristics, and their characteristica are the  exact opposite to us/ed)
