Plea … Refugee mother Fartun Adan Abidi with Nimo and Liban. Mrs Abidi, 45, has nine children to organise each morning across four schools and childcare, and is also primary carer for her 85-year-old husband.
The best one-liner I have come across in a long time: “The land belongs to those who can defend it”- prick up your ears, Australia!
The land belongs to those who can defend it. Unless Europe grows a pair and implements measures discouraging illegals from entering and severely punishing those who did so, it will cease to exist as Europe.
Cagliari, 11 Oct. (AKI) – The airport in the Sardinian capital, Cagliari, was closed on Monday after illegal immigrants held in a nearby detention centre staged a revolt. They seized control of the centre and dozens managed to escape onto the airport runway.
UK: New “conservative” government same as old red ratbag government:
New U.K. government bans Michael Savage (again)
The new Conservative-Party-led government of Prime Minister David Cameron informed Michael Savage it will continue the ban on the top-rated talk-radio host’sentry to the United Kingdom unless he repudiates statements made on his broadcasts that were deemed a threat to public security.
The poor quality of analysis behind Australia’s abandonment of traditional assimilationist immigration policy reached its apotheosis recently in a spate of articles by well placed commentators. The proposal of the moment was open borders, immigration unrestricted by consideration of all factors save for security.
Most Australians will reject the proposal as absurd. Unfortunately the analytical basis for policies followed by federal governments since the 1970s has not much differed apart from economic criteria.
Prof. Mirko Bagaric (SMH, 7 April 2010, p. 15[i]), professor of law at Deakin University, argues for unrestricted immigration from the poorest to the richest countries as the best means to reduce Third World poverty. Initially his article came as a pleasant surprise to one who applies biological concepts and methods to the study of human society. Prof. Bagaric opened by stating two truths about human ethnocentrism: “[M]ost still prefer people of their own type and find different cultures jarring”; and “It is in the human DNA.” [ii]
However from that point the article provided almost no hint that humans are an evolved species with an interest in survival. Prof. Bagaric superficially discusses three interests that could be affected by open borders – material prosperity, national security, and cultural tradition – more of which later. This leaves many interests unmentioned.
To argue is to destroy democracy? I thought it was the essence of democracy.
(T)he implications of 3C, let alone 4C or 5C, are so horrible that we look to any possible scenario to head it off, including the canvassing of “emergency” responses such as the suspension of democratic processes.
Good heavens. That’s this same champion of democracy, suggesting a suspension of it.
It seems some policies indeed are so serious that democracy must be destroyed to change them. But only when Hamilton approves.
Right. Its not despotism when commies do it…..
Not to worry: the Age is prepared to go down with KRudd!
Alan Jones comments on the debate about Muslim immigration, and says politicians can’t continue…/is anybody listening?
Islam is seditious. Islamic doctrine is more political than religious, and its sole political goal is the domination of Islam over all over religions and all governments.
It is a Muslim’s religious duty to achieve that political goal.
When Muslims move to a country, a certain percentage of them start agitating for special considerations. They start to organize and influence the nation politically in a way that is good for Islam and bad for freedom and equality. When the percentage of the Muslims in a nation’s population becomes high enough, they gain so much political power that freedoms and rights begin to disappear. (Watch this video to learn more.) I still hear excuses (as on ABC 774 yesterday) that the sudden influx is due largely to the war in Sri Lanka – a war that actually started in 1983 and ended a year ago. I’d suggest the graph shows that Rudd’s policies are in fact the more important explanation. not least because most asylum seekers are not Sri Lankan at all.
The KRudd Government has launched a new propaganda campaign aimed at convincing children the planet will fry from our gases (and Labor will save them): The Shout Out for Climate Change competition gives Australian students of all ages a creative platform to inform, engage and inspire others to discover more about climate change and take action.
IMMIGRATION Department officials have been ordered to back off all non-essential visa checking, such as raids on brothels and illegal fruit pickers, as mainland detention centres are at risk of overflowing because of the constant transfer of asylum-seekers from Christmas Island. The Australian has learnt that Immigration Department compliance officers were told late last week to detain people only where necessary, because of the space pressure inside detention centres.
The instructions, which were issued verbally, not in writing, are understood to have been handed down last Thursday and Friday.
CHRISTMAS Island detention facilities are likely to tip over official capacity today despite a charter flight taking 53 people to the mainland.
There are now 1920 people in immigration detention on Christmas Island and 120 spare beds, but interpreters and Customs are now at Flying Fish Cove preparing to receive about 140 asylum seekers from boats intercepted last month.
Official capacity is about 2040, a spokesman from the Department of Immigration and Citizenship said.
Most of the people who left the island on this morning’s charter have been granted visas, and the plane delivered 12 Indonesian crew to detention in Darwin in preparation for court appearances or repatriation.
Earlier today, Opposition immigration spokesman Scott Morrison labelled Christmas Island a “taxi service” after an asylum-seeker boat slipped though Australia’s border security and announced its arrival in a triple 0 call.
